Blackwood Gully
YOUR hosts at Blackwood Gully are John and Marea Baynes, who have owned the business for 10 years.
John originally hails from Melbourne and spent 37 years as a bank manager working and living throughout Victoria. Marea, worked in social welfare prior to their move to Lavers Hill, and was born and raised in Lancefield, central Victoria.
"We live in a beautiful environment, enjoy the people contact and have great people work for us," Marea said.
"It is amazing how many people come back - it's a really big part of our business.
"Our regulars come from Lavers Hill, Apollo Bay, Colac, and we even have interstate and overseas visitors who make return visits.
"The feedback we get is that people love the location, the ambience, the food - especially our scones served with locally made preserves, the birds, walking in the garden and the rainforest."
Blackwood Gully is also a popular stop-off for Great Ocean Road tour operators catering for domestic and international travellers.
John and Marea also cater for functions and special events.
